In the spotlight

Two of our new colleagues in the Russian market share with you their experience of their introduction to mageba - take a look behind the scenes and find out more about our two new employees, penguins and cheese fondue.

Olga Zhukova

I am 28 years old and come from St. Petersburg. I studied civil engineering with mastering infrastructural engineering of long-span structures, and fell in love with long-span bridges while doing so. Before joining mageba I worked as designer, and also gained experience in project management. I am happy to be starting in my role as a Technical Project Manager for the Russian market, and I’m looking forward to many exciting on-the-job experiences!

Olga Lysikova

I am 23 years old and I was born in Murmansk, which is a city in the far north of Russia. I graduated from the St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering as an engineer of bridge and tunnel constructions. During my studies, bridges became part of my life, so now it is great to live in the city of bridges – St. Petersburg! And of course, I am very happy and proud to have recently started working at mageba Russia as a Sales Project Manager. I am looking forward to working on many interesting bridge projects!

Training in Switzerland

We both started our job on 01/01/2015 and were glad to gain valuable experience from an extensive training and introduction phase – directly held in the Swiss Headquarters, Bülach. Besides training on processes and structures within the company, we further learned how to communicate and “who is who” at mageba – not only in Switzerland but for all the entire subsidiaries in the world.

Penguins, Fassnacht and Cheese Fondue

We also experienced Switzerland and its culture by visiting many places, e.g. Bad Ragaz and Tamina Bridge which was under construction at that time! Of course we took the opportunity to visit Zurich and enjoyed a winter penguin parade and the impressive new elephant enclosure in the city zoo. The “Fasnacht” carnival in Lucerne gave us a wonderful and very charming insight into the Swiss culture.

Our colleagues also took us to charming restaurants, wellness and even invited us to their homes for a typical Swiss food, like a traditional cheese fondue dinner. It was so nice and interesting!

In a nutshell, our six weeks in Switzerland brought us much closer to the mageba family than we could have expected. On our last evening in Switzerland we organized a Russian Bliny-Dinner at home. We prepared the Bliny and Russian salads ourselves according to ancient Russian traditions.

Take a look at some photos that give some impressions of our weekends in Switzerland.
